AMBASSADOR CATHERINE NYAJURE

Kenya is an amazing country with a rich diversity in people, culture, climate and social-economic indicators; I, like many Kenyan citizens have benefited from the rich experiences available in the country. My values and character have been informed by my upbringing there; the friendliness, generosity and community-focused outlook of the people are embodied in the spirit of 'Harambee' which means to pull together for the good of the community and nation at large. The people of Kenya are very well-educated and hardworking which work together to make Kenya a powerhouse economy in Africa and will drive it forward to be a force to reckon with on the world stage.

The reason I joined the pageant was to put Kenya in the limelight by educating people on it and I believe that this pageant is an excellent platform from which to make a great impact in my country. I have a passion for community development and would love to help the less fortunate by getting involved in programs that attack social ills of which there are many such as lack access to clean water, healthcare and education. I am keenly aware that  my purpose is to serve the needy and will continue to seek opportunities to do so. I would like to have a chance to participate because it is a great opportunity to have fun, be part of an amazing 'once in a life time' experience and all for a great cause. My charity of choice is working with orphans to  try and provide their basic needs. I would also like to provide sanitary towels to girls in Arid areas or those who cannot afford to buy them since it is known that limited access to safe, convenient and appropriate methods in dealing with Menstruation negatively impacts the mental, physical and social life of the women and adolescent girls and it a critical issue which requires our participation in order to tackle the issue.
