My name is Debbry Mburu & I am 19 years old. I am currently a student majoring in International Business. I love Kenya and the country that I come from. From the Kikuyu spoken by my mother and her family to the Swahili spoken in the streets of Nairobi. Kenya is full of rich culture and a unique way of life. Growing up as an immigrant in the United states I have been socialized to believe that I should be shamed from where I am from and the nation I was born in. However, I take pride in my language, in my food and in my customs. Kenya is a part of me whether i may be apart form it.
The charity I would like to raise money for is Mfariji Africa. The charity deals with improving the likes of Kenyan women by helping them stay in school to complete their education through mentoring, menstrual health and hygiene training and provision of sanitary towels. It also helps them become more equipped for adulthood and become the next generation of leaders.
