Serving is and will always be part of me. This year I am so humbled that I get to have this great opportunity to join this platform and continue to represent such a beautiful country; my motherland. I get to work & serve hand in hand with a non-profit organization that’s very dear to my heart; Gladways Center School which is based in Kawangware. I get to partner with Mama Mary, who has been fighting for children’s rights in the city of Kawangware. Going house to house rescuing children who are less fortunate, children going through abuse, whose parents are jobless, children raised by single parents. Some with parents with HIV, and some are orphans. She brings them to her center so that they can get care and education. When I first got connected to her, I knew from the get go that her heart is full of love and compassion. She is dedicated to serve the youth in Kawangware and makes sure they are all catered for. She even shares her bed and small space with the little children that she has taken up as her own because there is no place for them to go. The goal is to cater to the children’s needs by providing a SAFE environment for them to call home, create an environment where they will receive EDUCATION and create a SYSTEM that will help them become even more self-sufficient in the future.
Having the experience as an educator in the U.S calls me to advocate for our children's rights back home in Kenya and ensure that they also get to receive high quality education. I totally believe that their dreams are valid too. The goal is not to limit myself when it comes to creating change and being the change. The long-term goal is to continue to impact the youth in Kenya. My promise to you as Face of Kenya USA is to continue to serve and help rebuild communities. Someone somewhere is depending on my yes, and. your YES.
I am so humbled that I get to have this great opportunity to join this platform and continue to represent such a beautiful country; my motherland. Taking on this journey is and will always be beyond the crown for me. It's about service and being a voice to the voiceless. It’s about being present. Having open eyes to really see and be the change that we want and need. Am humbled that I’ll get to stand in the gap of a non-profit organization that is dear to my heart. I am very humbled and thankful for this opportunity. This is for every woman, every man. For every boy child and girl child. For anyone who has ever been disqualified or have disqualified themselves because of the society given "inabilities". For anyone who has been bullied because of their perfect imperfections. For anyone who has feared to stand out because of what makes them who they are. This is for you. I know & believe that this will create many other avenues for partnership & growth for our beautiful country Kenya. And that will make us even more stronger and unify us as a people and remind us that we are ONE body & each part has been uniquely created by a perfect God with perfect hands for a perfect purpose.
Thank you to the wonderful FOK USA team for having me on board and receiving our vision well.
To my fellow young people, this is for YOU. I love you & continue to stand for you & with you.
