My name is Lorreen Agandi. I am 23 years old and a recent graduate of East Carolina University. There I obtained two degrees, a B.S. in Biology and a B.A. in Chemistry. With these two degrees, I plan on taking my knowledge a step further and attending medical school in 2018. From the flat plains of Kano to the beautiful mountains in Kilimanjaro, I love kenya because of the large diversity and the beautiful culture. The multitude of tribes have brought together this beautiful country, all while assimilating to a similar degree of culture. Being raised in America has truly made me fall in love with Kenya. I have obtained some of the best education in the world all while learning more about my beautiful country. From a young age girls education has been very important to me. My education has allowed me to do things that are only imaginable for young girls in Kenya. With that being said, I recently founded my own charity, Kisumu Girls Empowerment and Health Organization, under the non profit organization Kochien'g Health Center in Ranjira Community, Kisumu County - Kenya, founded by my father, Agandi Oyoo. Currently this organization supports young girls in the Kano community who have showed excellence throughout primary school. The purpose of this organization is to help girls that have scored high on the Kenyan Certificate of Primary Education exam, but don't have the funds to support furthering their education. By supporting this organization, young girls will be able to fulfill their dreams and make a living for themselves. So please help me be the voice for young girls in Kenya who are striving to build a future themselves!
