Hello, my name is Malaika Kibunguchy and I love Kenya because whenever I have gone back it feels like home. I may have not been born there but it is very much a second home to me. There is so much pride in Kenya. I just love how we as kenyans take pride in everything we do. I am blessed to have had parents who raised me up in the Kenyan culture regardless of if I was in the US or in Kenya. I joined this pageant to be a voice of those kenyan americans who don’t actually have enough voice to speak out. Often times we are put in the middle of being kenyan and american. Either we are too american enough or too kenyan. There is no such thing and I am glad to have the best of both worlds. Since I do have the best of both worlds, I would like to make some type of impact in Kenya. Especially in early childhood education. This hits home only because at the age of 20 I am a preschool teacher and education can simply help the nation keep growing. The youth are the future so why not start as early as you can.
