It was such an honor to be part of this year's Face of Kenya USA Gala. Many thanks to The Kenya Consul General Hon Maurice Nakitare who graced the occasion. The Founder and President of Face of Kenya, Janet Africanacts, all the way from London UK poured her heart into this event. A woman that has empowered so many young people to represent our home country and give back to the community. The lives of so many children and families will forever be changed. A lot of planning and organization by our graceful FOK US Manager, Wacu Ndirangu. Always pushing and keeping the ambassadors going throughout this process. Such a joy to be around! I have truly never seen young people so passionate about giving back and taking pride in building a better future for our country Kenya! I am humbled but more than anything inspired by all the ambassadors for their hard work, commitment and dedication. I am looking forward to a great year and representation of Face of Kenya as the Brand Ambassador! Thank you everyone for all your support.

Ken AfriKen

Los Angeles, CA, United States · I would like to congratulate the winner of Face of Kenya USA 2016 Judy Nzeki for making us all proud and showing the world the beauty and grace Kenya has to offer. Many may not know that Judy has been with Tumaini International for more than a decade and last year when many were enjoying their summer vacation traveling she was back home in Kenya helping the children of Tumaini. She would spend the better part of five months giving back as she terms it. Her answer to the judge
s and her winning smile stole the show and sealed the deal. As the co- host I got to meet and talk to all the contestants. Their achievements and commitment at such a tender age not only impressed me but left me moved beyond words. There was contestant number
1 Marsha Lilly of Warminster Pennsylvania. Her work with the Autism Society of Kenya is commendable to say the least. Her motivation, a brother with autism. Contestant number
2- Hellen Kamau whose work with Off The Block Kids Athletic in Nairobi helps to nurture talent. Contestant Number
3- Rose Njeri of Rose Fit who has a masters degree in Family Therapy and whose passion for fitness and proper living was evident on stage when she had me doing push- ups. Rose recently organized a race in Dallas Texas that saw more than a hundred people running and working out. Contestant number
5 Cynthia Nyongesa who is a future neuro- scientist and visual artist who strongly believes in women empowerment. Contestant Number
6 Valentine Waithera whose elaborate gown got me working overtime on stage and gladly, contestant Number
7 Marie Ojiambo who is a sickle cell warrior and whose narrative skills were on display as she recited "The Hummingbird". Contestant number
8 Eva Kogi a fellow Baltimorean with a passion for children with neuro deficits- cerebral palsy and spina bifida to name a few. Her African dance moves were intricate and sophisticated. Contestant number
9 Malaika Kibunguchy who started dancing when she was five and whose African dance gilded with a hint of jazz was a hit. Contestant number
10 Judith Ngugi a poet and medical student whose Shairi about beauty "Urembo" was a breath of fresh air. Contestant number
11 Catherine Nyanjure . Her speech about commitment was inspired by her own experience. She almost quit the contest but somehow found the strength to overcome the obstacles in her way. Contestant number
12 Kennedy Kiboro the only guy in the pageant whose love of country inspired him to try out for FOK. They are no longer contestants. They are winners now.

As I leave LA, I congratulate them and wish them the very best. Thank you thank you thank you and God speed! To Janet Africanacts Wainaina, Ken , Wacu Ndirangu Nancy Mugga and all those who worked so hard to make this event the success it was, may your efforts be rewarded a hundred fold. From Menimpact Change desk it's your MC Mike MIC Mugo saying goodbye and good night!
