Who is Njeri Maina?

I'm Njeri Maina and I love modeling . I'm in school working toward my nursing career so that I can help children. My fundraiser is Batian school for less fortunate children. I love Kenya because it is such a beautiful country with beautiful people. I was compelled to do the Face of Kenya because I wanted to be able to show my pride in my birthplace and do something positive for my people.

Growing up in the United States, I never really understood what it meant to be Kenyan. I knew I was Kenyan and I spoke Swahili and Kikuyu but being plugged into an American culture made it easy to lose that part of my identity. As I got older and I started to yearn to learn more about the country I was born; I started to become proud of the blood that ran through my veins. The pure beauty and intelligence of the Kenyan people here in America and back home gives me the pride to correct anyone who assumes I'm from anywhere else.

This competition will not only help me get out of my comfort zone as a model but also help me raise money for my a  school for orphaned children back in Kenya. They, like every other orphanage or school struggle to help as many children as they can. Whether I win or lose l will know that I helped children that don't have the same chances in life that I did. I want those children to be able to know that they have a future though education and no matter where they start, they will end up on top.
